Re: Iraq, we had some things we wanted to get clear about:

1. It'd be nice to know more about the various "insurgent" militia groups currently terrorizing Iraq (besides the US). Bring names of these groups, ethnic/religious backgrounds, etc. Where are the insurgents from? How are they getting into the country? It'd also help to understand the extent to which current conflicts are motivated by friction between tribes [1].

2. How and when did Iraq get its current borders? What are the key ethnic and religious groups, and what are their historical relations to each other? [Dave]

3. Exactly what is the early background of US political intervention in Iraq? [Seth]

In terms of knowledge-maxization, it might make sense for each of us to pick a question and look into it far as we can. If that sounds good, pick one of the above (or add your own) and put your name by it.
